Every month Amazon announces a KDP Select Global Fund and divides it by the total KENP read by Kindle Unlimited subscribers. Amazon reported a $71.0 million global fund for July 2026. A larger fund does not automatically prove a higher per-page rate because total pages read and marketplace allocation also change.
Your own KENPC count (Kindle Edition Normalized Page Count) is set when you upload — it's the number Amazon uses for payout, not your manuscript's word count. Find it in KDP Reports → Kindle Edition Normalized Pages (KENPC).
Why authors watch this number
KENP income is the quiet backbone of self-publishing: readers "borrow" via Kindle Unlimited instead of buying, so a big KU read-through can beat sales income for fiction and low-content books. A book with 200 full reads/month at the July US tracked rate and 250 pages earns about $241.69/month before anything else.
